CAPE TOWN GET TOGETHER AUGUST 2016

Thursday evening saw over 60 ex-Yorkies enjoying an excellent get-together at Newlands Cricket Stadium, with the feeling being that this function should definitely be repeated next year. Francois Moll welcomed everyone, before the Marketing Department touched on it’s Alumni Strategy for 2016 / 2017 and highlighted a couple of areas where progress has been made.

REUNION 22ND JULY 2016

Despite the weekend being a little chilly our annual get together was once again a great success. The Reunion activities kicked off with the Hockey Derby against Grey PE. The Wind Band played and the Choir sang beautifully before the 1st Team Hockey Boys entertained the crowd with some fast paced hockey – whilst they kept in the lead for most of the game, a short corner at the end sealed a victory for Grey and our boys went down 3-2. The defeat did not stop festivities in the Clubhouse and many a Yorkie had a great time. Our raffle escalated to R5,000 and was won by Arlene Smit. A big congrats to her.

The rugby boys gave a good show on Saturday and narrowly lost 21-20 to PW Botha in a highly entertaining game. By all accounts Saturday night was a very festive occasion, as both the 1986 and 1996 classes celebrated their reunions at the Foo Bar. We have now started the plans for 2017 – watch this space!

REUNION 14TH AUGUST 2015
A HUGE success!

The Reunion commenced on Friday morning where the original staff of York High got together for breakfast. They shared fond memories, a lot of laughs and even a tear or two.

What a special occasion it was to see the people who laid down the foundation upon which the York family was built! We thank you for your dedication and hard work, making York into the place we all love today!

The day continued in high spirits and good weather supported a great event.   York High celebrated its 40 years in style – the Quarry Clubhouse pumped, the fireworks were splendid, great hockey was played, the Mamma Mia production was a huge success with every seat sold and Yorkies got together and caught up. Thank you to all who worked so hard to make this the success that it was.

36 Yorkies took part in our new Annual Raffle so there was R3,600 up for grabs. Congrats to Debbie Smuts (nee Boshoff) and Sean Power who were our 2 lucky winners. They go home with R1,800 each. We already looking forward to 2016 so keep your eye on Facebook and the website for further information!
