York High Dancer excels Cayden Bean

Cayden Bean, a Grade 9 learner at York High, started dancing at the age of 10 when he joined the Abbi Geldenhuys Academy of Ballet. He has danced with the Academy for 7 years, and has been awarded Distinctions for all his Cecchetti exams so far.

Two years ago he joined the Sidwell Roman School of Ballet in Knysna, and in 2021 he started his high school career at York High. Here he could further his dancing skills and love for dance as he could take Dance as a subject. His level of excellence, commitment and discipline resulted in his selection as a member of York High’s Dance First Team. At York, he is taught by Mrs Linda Johnson in Jazz. This young man is an amazing and talented dancer, and furthermore, excels in public speaking.

During May, Cayden took part in the Cape Town Eisteddfod as part of Sidwell Roman School of Ballet. He received two diplomas (between 85 % and 100%) for Own Choice Classical Solo 14 years, and Own Choice Demi-Character Solo 14 years. He then went into the finals and was awarded two gold medals.

We are very proud of this young man and are excited about what the future holds for him.
